"Bringing hurting people to healing and joy."

Lydia Dennin, MS, LSW

Philosophy of Counseling

I am an affirming therapist.  I want to meet you where you are and join with you to get you where you want to be.  I enjoy working with children from the age of 3 and up.  I believe engaging parents is essential when working with children.  I have been able to connect therapeutically and want to help them succeed at managing their emotions with an understanding that no emotions are bad.

I work with children using play therapy techniques.  The Zones of Regulation curriculum is used to assist children in learning to identify how they feel and how to cope with each zone.  I have worked with children who have experienced trauma, anxiety, grief, depression, and self-harm.  I also have experience working with adults who have trauma, anxiety, grief, depression, relationship challenges and substance use disorders.  I use a person-centered approach focused on mindfulness.  I utilize play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solutions- focused Therapy, motivational interviewing and harm reduction.

About Me

I am a single mom of a very active soccer player.  My son and I enjoy the pool and water parks in the summer.  We also enjoy Columbus Crew games.  We have two cats, Watkins, our Maine Coon, and Pig is our rescued stray.  We also love movies and popcorn.  I have volunteered with Hospice of North Central Ohio since 2018 as a group leader for their grief camp, Camp Hope.  I am passionate about resolving diaper need and founded a diaper bank in 2022.
